ABOUT US

My name’s Andy, and I love cheese. Great cheese. Proper cheese. Cheese hand-made with love and care on the farm. Cheese made to ancient recipes or new, exciting cheese created by young cheesemakers. Cheese that everyone has heard of and cheeses that are hard to find.

I have worked in the world of cheese for a very long time! I have made cheese or sold cheese for as long as I can remember, and I still love it. My love of cheese is genuine and I want to share that passion with you.

I am driven by an appreciation of good quality food, and I want to support small, independent producers who really care about the cheeses that they create. Nothing beats the excitement of discovering new cheeses, I feel that it is my little secret when I find a cheese in a little deli that is not well known, that you can’t find in a supermarket.

There are some amazing producers making great cheeses, virtually on our doorstep on the edge of the New Forest. I will highlight as many of these fantastic cheeses in our boxes and for your special occasions as I can. I will also work closely with local wholesalers to source some of the finest artisan cheeses from southern England. In this way, we will not only showcase some of this country's best products, we will minimise the miles that they are travelling.

My family and I have always cared about the world we live in and are conscious of the decisions we make that will affect our environment and our futures. We shop responsibly, we grow our own fruit and veg where possible and try and do as much as we can to play our part. Therefore, our aim is to provide boxes of cheese that are plastic free. The only plastic you will find is the reusable and recyclable ice packs supplied by an eco-friendly company. Even the boxes themselves are produced using sustainable resources (an employee-owned business). We love our world and want everyone to share it for years and years to come.

we are proud of our achievements. 

Since we started our journey with The Box Of Cheese in September 2021, we have come a long way. In our first 18 months we have used more than 80 different cheeses from more than 45 cheesemakers, all small, independent and British.

Our passion for using local producers (including the introduction of chutneys and biscuits to our selection) has been acknowledged by New Forest Marque, where we have joined them as members.

In February 2022, we were recognised by renowned retailer and Dragon Theo Paphitis and became a winner of his prestigious #SBS award. And in March 2023, we were nominated for the bizbubble.com awards in the Best New Biz On The Block category.

We are very proud of what we have achieved so far. But excited for what else is to come....
